Travel is all about adventure. If you’re the type of traveler who loves to experience the great outdoors, there are dozens of exciting vacations waiting for you. Here’s a look at a few fun vacation ideas for the adventurous traveler.
Snorkeling in Jellyfish Lake

Snorkeling amid thousands of jellyfish may seem like a not-so-wise idea, but the jellyfish in jellyfish lake don’t have strong stinging mechanisms. That’s because they’ve evolved over the years after being isolated from the rest of the Pacific Ocean during the last ice age.
The experience is unworldly as snorkelers glide carefully through the water among thousands of softly glowing jellyfish. What could be more fun than telling your friends that you swam along with a school of jellyfish?
Hiking the Two Million Acres of Yellowstone National Park

Hiking enthusiasts will appreciate the hundreds of miles of hiking trails within Yellowstone National Park. Spanning parts of Wyoming, Montana and Idaho, trails weave up mountains, along streams and amid forests. Old Faithful is the most well-known landmark at Yellowstone, while visitors will also get to enjoy the company of wildlife, such as elk, buffalo and even the occasional grizzly bear. Take a guided tour or camping trip, or check out the natural geysers while you’re there.
Hang Gliding at the Outer Banks

The Outer Banks is one of the most popular vacation destinations, situated off the coast of North Carolina. The ocean winds make this area ideal for outdoor adventures such as hang gliding, sailing and wind surfing.
The first-ever flight by Orville and Wilbur Wright took place in Kitty Hawk, which is still home to the Wright Brothers National Memorial. While you’re there, take an ATV ride on the beach, go surfing or charter a sport fishing boat for the day to go deep-sea fishing. A visit to Corolla to see wild horses freely roaming the beach is also a must-have experience.
Rafting the Grand Canyon

The Colorado River takes a path through the Grand Canyon, making it one of the most exciting places to go white-water rafting. There’s no view of one of the most amazing natural wonders in the world like the view of the Grand Canyon from the Colorado River. Beyond rafting, you get to explore hidden areas of the canyon via side hikes and discover waterfalls, all from a perspective less-adventurous travelers will never experience.
Bungee Jumping from Victoria Falls Bridge, Zambia

Bungee jumping from the Victoria Falls Bridge in Zambia is truly for adventure-lovers who like to push the envelope. The spot is famous for bungee jumping. One woman’s bungee cord broke, plunging her into the crocodile-infested waters below—since that time, it’s been a hotspot for daredevils. Fearful that tourists would be discouraged, the Zambia Tourism Minister took the dive himself shortly after.
There are plenty of amazing sights to see around the world, but true adventurers are looking for an adrenaline rush. If the outdoors is your true love, these vacation spots won’t disappoint.
