Welcome to Intel Mixx Blog ..
Everyone wants to have a nice smelling home, and for obvious reasons. Not only does a freshly scented house eliminate any harsh or negative aromas, but it also offers a pleasant smell that can set the mood for your home. A nice smelling home can convey coziness, freshness, the outdoors, romanticism, or simply cleanliness.
Unfortunately, most of the products that make your home smell better are over-priced, and are often either artificial smelling, or have a harmful affect on the environment. As a result, many people make homemade fragrances for their home. Thankfully, this is a relatively easy task that can be fun, save you money, and smell even better than commercial fresheners. Here are a few do it yourself home fresheners:
This is a pretty handy trick: every few days, take a drop or two of vanilla extract, and dab it onto a light bulb (make sure to do this when the light is turned off, and fully cooled down). Then, when you turn on the light, the warmth will give off a strong and comforting aroma of vanilla, making your home smell like a bakery. For those that take this approach, you can change the essence by altering extracts; the flavor will wear off in a few days, then you can try a new flavor. You can even use this trick to make your home holiday themed by using cinnamon or nutmeg essence during Christmas season.
Grow a Garden
One of the best ways to keep your home smelling fabulous is to grow an aromatic garden, and then pick flowers and plants and put them in vases around your house. Obviously roses are a well-known aromatic flower, but lavender also emits fabulous smells all year round. With a good garden of aromatics, you can always have delicious vases in your home, keeping your rooms smelling fresh and natural. Just make sure your garden includes a few good smelling plants, as they smell nice even when they’re not in blossom.
Essential Oil Spray
One of the easiest and best do it yourself fresheners is the homemade essential oil spray. Just get a few of your favorite essential oils, and put a dozen or so drops into a spray bottle, then fill it with water. Keep it somewhere handy where you can spray it around your house. A few quick sprays will have your house smelling like paradise in no time.
Essential Oil Diffuser
If you like the essential oil spray, and want to go a step further with the do it yourself project, you can make an essential oil diffuser, just like the overpriced ones you see in the store. It’s surprisingly simple: next time you’re out on a walk, collect some thin branches, weed stems, or dry grass stalks. Then fill a glass bottle with water and essential oils, put the branches or stalks in, and fan them out. Voila! You now have classy, pretty, great smelling homemade diffusers.
These are a few of the most effective ways to have your house smelling better with your own homemade product. Follow any of these tips, and your home will smell fabulous before you know it!
